College is far more political than the NFL. A lot more asses to kiss. While "open" offensive coordinator positions are dwindling in the NFL, I am starting to see more separate "passing game coordinator" positions. Using the KC Chiefs as example, they have head coach and play-caller Andy Reid, offensive coordinator Matt Nagy (former Bears head coach) and a pass game coordinator. It would be a demotion as I don't know of any passing game coordinators who call plays, but I can see Eric remaining in the NFL and being named a "passing game coordinator" somewhere.
