You think Saban didn’t have security? Saban recruited at the very highest level, he wasn’t worried about change. Hell, he’s changed his coaching and recruiting methodology multiple times. Michigan was willing to make Harbaugh the highest paid coach in college and indemnify him for any NCAA penalties imposed.

I think they just hate the portal. Yeah, NIL is a part of that, but I don’t think paying the players was why they left. It was the ease of transferring that they abhorred.
The Oregon thing with the FSU player and Iowa reaching out mid-season to Kayden Procter certainly doesn’t help.
