Just don't see it happening.

The players overall aren't that good. What percentage have a shot to make to the NFL? What percentage that do end up lasting for any period. People are still paying because of the overall program and name recognition and for the HC. I think Ucla sold out one game this year and that was Colorado and they were average. Was because of Sanders there was interest.

Players would also need to sign contracts that last years, not months. They don't want that and they don't want to commit to post season play. Everybody including players begged to get TV time and now they do, they think they are the reason why networks make so much money?

The fix is do what basketball does. Start a G League and the supposed best can take their chances there and establish their athletic value. College football would still thrive without those players.

And the players do get scholarships, room, food, stipends, and medical coverage that students do not get. And regarding the transfer portal, what percentage of those players end up screwing themselves by not getting picked up by someone and don't get any of those benefits.
