UCLA is not in it …which is ALL the time since 1999 (the one time we didn’t want to be in it) …
But also it is NEVER more glaring this stadium is not really ours ….
Gone (save for the Terry Donahue in small print on the press box lip ) is any vestige that this is the HOME of the Bruins….devoid of all the powder blue, gold, all the identifying trim and banners… all the signage, gone, …if you venture into
the locker room, you’ll find it stripped all the tacky temporary signage, blowup photos of Bruin greats that make it the glue-on “UCLA home”…even the generic carpeting has no UCLA colors or insignia. It may as well be a bowling alley…
The thought remains we’re just squatters here in this sublimely inconvenient, bloated venue far enough from campus to NCAA qualify for overnight hotel rooms for the team (Kelly killed that small perk, by the way).
It’s also half empty for most games now, with comb-over tarps badly obscuring the vast balding pate of seats with scattered fans resembling a bad hair plug job…
It’s times like these when we should be lobbying Jarmond hard for
to really make his bones and fill this long festering void on the Drake Stadium
white elephant footprint .
Be ambitious …give the guy sitting on $9 Billion to giveaway, who started making his vast fortune by lying on his William Morris resume that he went to UCLA…
