Harbor? I hope our students and student athletes aren't absorbing a defeatist attitude.
As the article points out, the irs is looking into this to address the 501c worthiness of the collectives. Neither the ncaa, the universities, the collectives, nor the donors want the irs poking around. There will be controls enacted to reign in and legitimize the industry to avoid problems.
Right now its the wild wild west. That'll change. The NFL, NBA, and MLB have come up with ways to level the playing field. CFB will also, and deferred payments won't be a part of it.
