Unfortunately, ej, I think we're listening to two kids who know less about UCLA than you and I do. This Sabo kid seems more like an analytics-focused UCLA follower than someone with a deep understanding of the program. The conversation about bringing Tyler back is preposterous.
Zach says, “Bilodeau could come back and improve his draft status.” Tyler’s draft rights are owned by the Nets, so even if he were to come back, the Nets don’t forfeit their pick. It also completely ignores the fact that he’s actually playing for the team right now.
These kids have dreamed of playing in the NBA their entire lives. The idea that Tyler would give up on that opportunity for one more payday seems myopic to me. To me, it just speaks to how informed these kids really are.
That said, if it becomes apparent that the fifth-year players will, in fact, play, maybe Cronin does sign someone. We know from his interview that he’s concerned about the interior play. I still see it as a long shot, though.
