Jamerson made a hard play. This could have spourred MSU to run up the score, which would make Cronin's seat that much hotter. By ejecting Jamerson, he takes that motivation away and they go easier on us and we only by 23 instead of 100-52, which would be very bad for Mick.
Or maybe I'm too cynical ...
