If Mick expresses distaste for the last dozen minutes of the 2H, the 1st finger he should point is at himself!
For a good 4-5 mins he went with an O rotation that would make a mother cry. For a good 4-5 mins, he had Perry, Bilo & Dailey on the pine. Moreover, don’t look now but Dent went 2-7 from the stripe, with all the 2H FTs being missed FRONT END one-and-ones! For 7 1/2 mins, UCLA was AWOL on the owe end, scoring but 4 pts in those 7 1/2 mins. For those brave enuf to do the math, that rotational 7 1/2 “O” mins, extrapolates to TWENTY ONE total game points! And, yes, the O-less law firm of Williams, Jamerson/Booker, & Freeney were in for more than 1/2 of that scoreless stretch!
And, B10 opponents, who will have oodles of game film to scheme with, will get a leg-up on us by noting Dent getting shots blocked in the paint and by making like Mr. Magoo on the FT line.
Switching gears, I’m still dumbfounded by one of Mick’s year-long set-in-stone starters being savaged in this here chatroom. Not a team star, but a key contributor who has been on a solid diversified streak that has been big to the team going 4-2 against all B10 competition with half of those games on CMC’s B10 ROAD touchstone. In these last 6 games, Dailey has chipped in 5 double-digit pts. And, for the last two games he’s also contributed game-high boards! To imply he’s a liability seems over-the-believable top.
In these last 6 games, here are UCLA’s double-digit scorers:
Dailey - 5 double-digit games;
Bilo - 5;
Perry - 5; and
Dent - 4.
No other Bruin had a double-digit game in these last 6….
