Yeah, I’d say this is the classic case of “two things can be true at the same time.” I completely agree with the sentiment that traph, Cronin, and you expressed...they just weren’t ready to play. It looked like they expected to come in and have their way, much like they did against UCI. Unfortunately, EW didn’t feel like going along with that narrative.
Still, there were some glaring issues that came to light. IMO it was more than mere effort. As mh pointed out, the double team was a disaster. It kept getting split, and the closeouts were atrocious. If EW picked us apart like that, what are teams like Purdue or Michigan going to do?
Offensively, I also don’t think we were prepared for the zone they threw at us. Sure, we missed a few open threes that hurt our confidence, and boosted theirs, but we’ve got such a weapon in Tyler at the free-throw line that I can’t understand why it took us so long to get him there.
Those are just a few of the issues I noticed. The other concern I have is our lack of size at the guard positions. We’re really small with both Sky and Don on the floor together. They’re a phenomenal offensive duo, and their quickness helps force turnovers, but yeah, I’m still worried.
