You realize that the $10 billion payment doesn't make it a good investment for the new owner. I'm talking going forward.
There have been times when the NBA was thought to be a poor investment, where it has been proven to be wrong.
The NBA had to take over the Hornets. The Clippers were bought by Sterling at a bargain price.
That being said, you are seeing teams with championship-caliber talent and two of the most legendary teams being sold. This is unheard of.
There is a decline in viewership. Young people no longer watch games. They watch clips.
How does NBA attract new fans when the entry cost of watching local games is so high? You can't even watch local games on League Pass.
The NBA IMO is at a crossroads like baseball was in before the rule changes. At this point the games look too similar and teams are unable to keep their championship core players intact.
This new CBA has hurt the league IMO.
Hopefully they can fix things. They had an issue when the games were too physical in the 90s. They had an issue with too many drugs in the 70s. We are seeing a lot of people taking their profits and leaving before having to pay these new CBA max salaries.
