No, your post was pure ignorance. Do you think Chuck has any idea what’s going on at the grassroots level of AAU? Really? He spews the narrative. Someone said it and people just repeat it. It’s pure pablum. Yeah, there are too many teams, but they aren’t playing at the elite or platinum levels. Every elite player in the US has come thru an AAU team. High school ball is trash. It’s why you have the MoteVerdes and LILUs and Prolific’s etc. The explosion of “AAU” teams are just money centers — like every other freaking youth sport. How many different levels of travel pony ball and ECNL/MLS/GA soccer are there.

In terms of Adam Silver, here’s the reality: if these kids aren’t in practice or at a competition, you know what they are doing? They are playing in a neighborhood in street ball competitions for HOURS with no breaks. They play hoop constantly. It’s much better to have them playing in a controlled environment than in the local hot spots, which is where they ALL go.
