Tribalism, religious or otherwise, inevitably leads to conflict

and far too often to violence. Worldwide and historically, religion seems to be a primary factor inciting conflict.

Ironically in this situation, the killing of over 30,000 innocent people in Gaza by the IDF has nothing to do with religion. It has to do with power and greed by a corrupt Israeli regime. Terrorist attacks by Hamas radicals has nothing to do with the majority of Palestinian citizens.

In the US it's tragic that a minority element of protesters on both sides are attempting to turn the demonstrations into a religious issue. It appears that's a great cover to delegitimize the protesters. It's not surprising that too many university admins and the police use the acts of the minority factions to discredit and disassemble the entire protest movement. Any protesters on either side who damage property, break into buildings, or commit violence should be arrested, given a jail sentence, and expelled. That won't happen.

In the end I doubt little will change. Israel will continue killing mass numbers of innocents. The US will do nothing. And college protests will lead to more tribalism.
