I've been here since the inception of the current format of this board in 1998 and ignoring trolls has NEVER worked. There are always folks here who will take the bait and respond.
I suggest using the alternate board, not as a substitute, but as a troll free moderated supplement to this one if you really want serious discussions without the invective. Nothing wrong with using both. Another advantage is that unlike the outdated board here, it has many useful features:
