It's why many AI researchers/techs with a sense of ethics (or even just self-preservation) have quit the major AI labs to serve as whistleblowers or start their own AI safety projects. Amodei, Altman, Hassabis, Zuck and Musk are recklessly driving us full speed ahead towards a totalitarian nightmare surveilance state or outright extinction.
Please email or write to your representatives pushing for regulation of this industry. It may not make much of a difference, but at least you can look your kids in the eye and say you tried when the end comes to pass.
