I am torn on the white girl from Wyoming. She clearly knows she didn't win she told the kid she thought he won, and she told her local media she was surprised at the final 3.
She had the highest score of 43 but it sounds like in addition to them cheating him out of points, they gave her points she didn't really earn. the story says they used her as a "cudgel" to push home schooling so it was both that she's white and she's home schooled.
I would like to believe if she had been 3rd not first she would have come forward and said there was a mistake but I doubt it, at that age the pressure was probably too great for her to just go along
But the kid lost out on an academic scholarship and all they said was you agreed to rules that said decisions and scoring are final.
I know there are bigger problems out here but I hope someone like Marc Elias has a referral for a lawyer for that family that will take it pro bono and sue the Dept of Education so that kid gets his scholarship
