It's pretty insane in 2019 the papers in Iowa suddenly got ahold of her confidential divorce info and started printing it. The court immediately agreed with her that it was NOT supposed to be public it was sealed, and they resealed it and the papers all had to retract the stories with apologies
And it stayed sealed until 2025 when Hegseth needed votes to be confirmed and suddenly her sealed divorce settlement was unsealed again and stuff started leaking out. And then threats and more threats and eventually she agreed to vote for Hegseth and shortly after announced she'd retie at the end of her term
Now how crazy is it? in 2016 Ernst was one of the top 3 choices to be VP with Trump, and she in fact claims he offered her the job but she turned it down in large part because of her family and more clearly her marriage. But again in 2024, she was on the short list to be his VP running mate.
