Seemed like the ref didn't know the rule and blew the whistle. If that's true I think the technically correct ruling would have been to call the play dead when the whistle blew, so SDSU would have had the ball at like the 3 or 4.
BUT, I suppose the heretofore unknown "do-over" call was more equitable.
