Coaching has elevated Nico’s deceptive read option skills, a staple of Chesney’s JMU offense and uniquely suited to his unique running talent.
Last year under Coach Fogster, et. al. Nico frequently got stuffed in the wrong hole.
Anthony Woods 118 yards 2 TDs, 8 carries …Who Knew?

Offensive coordinators will be licking their chalk boards on how the UCLA lilliputian DBS were near helpless against big receivers and tight ends.
(Thus, fhe continual 3rd down conversions indicated supra)
Nico has not elevated his passing skills, still short arming his motion inviting tips and slow to recognize his best option receiver.
A smart guy like Riley Rubell not remembering yanking an opposing
players off a pile is just a bad BAD penalty.
U.G.L.A.
Three (3) THREE penalties easily avoidable directly attributable to the control of
the coaches. Two 12 men and one illegal substitution. Given Chesney’s coaching pedigree and experience portfolio this is the last thing one expects. There are very few actions a coach can make during a game that can effect the outcome.
This was surprising, if not baffling …but no harm this time,,,Hopefully 1st game glitch that can be fixed ..….(and he admitted it during his presser)
Bonus point: when Cal’s band played “Big C “ from which our own “Sons of Westwood” is derived, there were enough Bruin fans in their stadium to call out the U -C—L-A Fight Fight Fight Chant taking over their Grrr interval …
