Sammy Omosigho, Wayne Knight and Ta'Shawn James have all received honors as a result of their contributions in UCLA's 45-24 Week 1 win over Cal. Omosigho was named the Bednarik Award National Player of the Week, Knight was named the Paul Hornung Award National Player of the Week and James was named the Thorpe Award National Defensive Back of the Week.
The Bednarik Player of the Week goes out to the top defensive performer in college football. The Hornung Awards Player of the Week goes out to the most versatile player in college football, and the the Thorpe Award Player of the Week goes out to the nation's top defensive back.
