The product does not generate the demand for those kind of prices, but because I am an alum, I pay the premium. Not that many of us left, because it is a terrible financial decision. When we are bad, tickets are available on the secondary market for much cheaper.
The athletic department can't cut the ticket prices because they would lose revenue and the demand isn't elastic enough to get more people to buy tickets at lower prices.
A move to SoFi would be the last straw for our group. 37 years of season tickets. We plan our vacations around bye weeks in the fall.
I will still probably go to the away game in Michigan next season if it is not in November, we have friends in Ann Arbor.
