You only said 'some' control. Why is that?

A lot of people think the athletes should have full control. So I would have to assume you are somewhat of the opinion that there still has to be some boundaries regarding the transfer portal, which I wouldn't disagree with.

If you took football and basketball out of the equation, the transfer portal would exist to enable any athlete to potentially change schools for reasons it is really intended. I think it's completely understandable to realize you made a mistake and chose a program that isn't for you and you shouldn't have to sit out a year. Or there are other reasons why it would be better for you to change schools for personal reasons.

I'm still old school that I did like when an athlete had an allegiance to a school. I'm not against athletes making money on their own and quite frankly, just wished the NCAA had just allowed it decades ago and maybe things wouldn't be as crazy as it is now. At the rate things are going, I would guess there is only going to be a small percentage of programs that will be able to keep all this up and the rest may have to go back to the older college model that existed prior.

I also have to wonder, what percentage of athletes do not get picked up from the portal? If that number is high, which I'm guessing it is, seems that is way more detrimental. That's a lot of players who now have zero scholarship to fall back on.
