So, debtors in possession aren't allowed to needlessly eat payroll buyout money which firing Jer would've entailed. Offing Jer made little sense financially in light of all the other earlier firings, even if the replacements were cheaper.
Second, his visibility and popularity with Bruin fans made him a difficult target for removal. PR problem on top of financial cost.
This is clearly a demotion for Jer from WR/Passing Game Coordinator to TE Coach. It's dumb to deny it.
