It’s a complete L if EB bolts after year 1. First, it kills recruiting for 24/25 and 25/26. Since, that will be the third OC in 3 years for all the players on the team. If EB leaves after year 1 it’s an unmitigated disaster.
I think EB is a good hire but it clearly shows that the hiring process was nuts. How in the world can one justify DF over EB as a HC? If EB was willing to come as an OC, he’d likely have come as HC. Nothing he’s gonna do at UCLS will have any effect on how the NFL views him. He’s already interviewed with EIGHTEEN NFL franchises in the NFL to be their HC. His ceiling has been set in the NFL. If Nagy gets a second opportunity EB could return to KC other than that who knows who might want him. 23-24 was terrible for him.
