Agreed. Chip did nothing correctly programmatically and left us in a lurch. Ultimately Chip told Jarmond who he was and Jarmond extended him twice. That’s his fault.
Chip did run a really nice offense when he had an experienced QB. His offense was fun to watch. It should have put more butts in seats but maybe it was too late after his first couple of seasons. Ultimately, because he decided never to recruit, the program suffered.
He walked away from 10mm+ next year to work for 6mm over 3 years. He knew his days of being a HC were over and he’s probably fine with that. We’ve seen a lot of “old” coaches decide this just isn’t for them anymore. It was unique to see a coach take a demotion though. He made a fortune getting fired by Philly and SF and ICLA so maybe $$ is irrelevant to him at this point.
I think his ucla pension vested too.
