Diversity is certainly a factor. But, UCLA already hired Jarmond as AD, which in my opinion *lessens the need to hire a minority coach.
Second, I would not call White a diversity hire. Dorrell certainly was, IMO. White seems to have a lot more going on than Dorrell, who really had no business being a HC.
Third, there's a lot of pressure on UCLA to step up now that we are moving to the Big 10. We can't really afford to be checking boxes at this point.
I think White's diversity will help him but doesn't guarantee anything. Also, interestingly, he's half Korean, which might please some of our Asian fans to know. It's not like UCLA doesn't have quite a few.
I think it's very likely to be White or Rees. Whoever kills the interviews.
