OK, here's my thinking:

O'Brien took the Ohio job knowing full well his wife was going to have to continue the commutes to Boston for their son's treatment. I'm assuming Mrs. O'Brien gave the OK to come to Columbus. And, the family has the financial means to continue the commutes indefinitely.

In my mind a far from perfect arrangement, but Mr. and Mrs. O'Brien signed off on it. For a week.

Then the head job at Mrs. O'Brien's alma mater, out of the blue, becomes available.

Fast forward a couple of weeks and Bill O'Brien's people are finalizing a contract for Bill to be the next head coach at BC. With a 100% + bump in salary.

And, we're suppost to believe the move was made for the welfare of their son?

I hired dozens of people during my professional career. And, I repeat I have no horse in this race. I don't care if the new OC at Ohio was Bill O'Brien, Chip or the head coach at Akron, Joe Moorhead, who I'm told is also high on Ryan Day's list.

BUT, if someone had pulled a Bill O'Brien on me, for ALL the same reasons, my reaction would be: It smells.

But, then I would not have considered a guy who's had 5 different jobs in the past 4 years.
