I hired dozens of direct reports, hired dozens of others and interviewed hundreds of people I my career. I am well aware of the process. I’ve never hired anyone I didn’t know in 24 hours. I’ve actually never seen it done in any profession. Especially someone I’m paying 8 figures and running a massive operation.

It’s pretty obvious you’ve never hired anyone of significance to an institution. When we hire people, there are dozens of hoops they need to go through depending on the job they are being hired. Some have to take specific job performance tests, interviewers ask specific hypotheticals, etc. Potential hires are interviewed by many people, not just one person. Once we finger someone they have thorough background tests, drug tests, SEC checks.

I don’t know what institution you worked for but HR is just a rubber stamp who does the scut work. They don’t hire. They don’t bring us candidates, they do what they are told.
