There is an article in the Tucson paper indicating that Fisch is a candidate for the Tennessee Titans and uw. UA is offering Fisch a new contract at ~4.8mm plus increases to his staff. I had forgotten but Zona’s financials make ucla look good. There is trepidation from BOD (or whatever they call it) that the optics of shoveling millions to football coaches while cuts are coming to other programs and maybe some academic programs. I think it’s good business to take money from non-rev sports to boost football, but you can’t touch the academic side. Thr Zona people will argue that a vast majority of the $$ is from private sources so its expense neutral but that misses the point of optics.
Ucla missed out on an easy poach here. If a coach has options why would he stay at Zona with such a gloomy financial outlook.
