Probably the greatest unintended consequence of the NIL era will be the demise of the head coach as personality cult.
This cult (to include most of the morons on this board) holds that good coaches are great recruiters, imbued with special, irresistible personalities that create a magnetic aura compelling young talents to flock to their programs.
Now, it's all about the size of the bag. The colors, the school, the coach, the tradition is all now immaterial. Even immediate playing time or "development" might be secondary now. What matters is the dough.
The time for fans' endless complaining and pining for a better, magical coach is over. FanThink is now clearly just noise (as it has always been). Media coverage and opining are garbage. What matters is the dough.
So, if you want a better program, kick some dough into the collective. If you don't, fair enough. Just do us all the favor of kindly shutting the firetruck up.
