Let me give you an example of what was being said about Vide back then:
Vide was playing for Real Madrid's youth program, arguably the top developmental system in Europe. He led Real Madrid to the Adidas Next Generation Tournament championship and was named tournament MVP after averaging 19.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists. That's one of the premier youth tournaments in Europe and has featured plenty of future NBA players.
His success wasn't limited to club basketball. At the 2022 FIBA U17 World Cup, playing for Slovenia, Vide led the entire tournament in scoring at 20.1 points per game while also contributing 5.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists. He followed that up at the 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup by averaging nearly 18 points per game against older competition, finishing among the tournament's leading scorers.
The scouting reports at the time consistently praised his size, ability to create off the dribble, and pick-and-roll play. The questions centered more on his outside shooting consistency and whether he would develop into a true point guard rather than a scoring combo guard.
Any of that sound familiar?
