First of all no evidence of shoe coming loose. There was something wrong with the horse. It was not his day to run. It happens. The trainer himself said I dont see anything wrong with my horse. If there was why did jockey D wait until 3 quarters of the race to pull up? Why not do it earlier. Basically, the horse ran out of steam and the jockey quit at the stretch. The jockey said "I had no horse." There are 10 other jockeys at that point with no horse power left and they finished. But my point is that he should of finished the race with class than to pull up.

One reason for Big Brown poor showing could be he was taken off his normal preparation of steriods prior to race. These steriods for horses are legal in New York, but the trainer broke the regular routine. There was mention the horse had a cracked right hoof and affected the his training schedule before the race. This could of been reason too. But trainer said he checked out ok and my horse is fine. No one really knows why poor performance of horse. The jockey may have been looking out for the horse health wise at the stretch. I dont know. I dont ride horses for a living to really tell. From a spectator point of view it looked to me he threw in the towel.
