As nearly as I can remember....
I mentioned that now that Thompson is in there will be a lot more focus on his "record." I have not researched this exhaustively but from what I've seen, he didn't write or sponsor any significant legislation. The best most people can seem to remember was that he couldn't wait for the work part to be over so he could go for the dinner and drinks.
As for Romney, you mentioned he couldn't seem to get started. Maybe the "flip flop is worse than murder" campaign that was used against Kerry worked too well, and the fact that Mitt has had to suddenly switch over to the conservative side of all the important issues, has had some negartive impact on him. My favorite is him telling people that he's been a "varmint" hunter....no matter how handsome he is....how can you NOT think = Elmer Fudd?
Finally I made the point that my ire is not reserved for Republicans. The Democrats are no better. No leadership, no guts. It's sad to think that in a country of 300 million people that these are our best choices for leadership.
I also had a short rant on Harry Ried's "we lost this war" comment. Not only stupid and wrong, but plays directly into the hands of ALL his enemies...from Bush and Cheney to Osama and the Syrians, not to mention Iran. Even if we PULLED OUT TODAY...we didn't lose anything. We had a war, we won the war, we hung around to help the people for humanitarian reasons....the people have made it clear they don't want our help....so ADIOS. WE WIN!!!! What's so hard about that...then we heal our military and get them ready for a conflict that can have some impact on the dangers we REALLY face in the world.
