If you could jump back into the time machine as a Bruin fan, and you were given the choice of any year to visit, which would you choose?
1975? (Coach Wooden's Final Season)
1973? (The Walton Gang At Their Height Of Excellence)
1971? (The Bibby Bunch: Wicks, Patterson, Rowe etc.)
1969? (Lew Alcindor's Era Of Domination Culminates With The First Ever College Basketball Threepeat!)
Another year perhaps?
Well, the only "time machine" which truly exists is game film and every year at "Woodenstock" we gather together as Bruin fans and re-live the glory of yesteryear to honor Coach John Wooden and the UCLA Basketball legacy. Not only will we have game film from the aforementioned seasons and more, but we will watch this year's edition take on our archrivals from across town for the first time ever in their new house.
What better way to celebrate UCLA's continued basketball dominance over hated U$C than to watch Ben Howland's young men conquer Troy--followed with game film from the glory years of the same task being accomplished?
Someone will no doubt ask: "What if we lose?" My response: "It won't happen."
And hypothetically, even if it could, what better way to restore a positive aire about the program than to break out the tape of Coach Wooden's teams topping Bobby Boyd's Trojans?
Come on over! We're in the Pasadena area---just a hop, skip, and jump from the Rose Bowl. We'll celebrate victory both past and present.
Last time we had a gentleman come all the way from North Carolina just to gather with us. This time around, I have a committment from another gentleman on Eastern Time--Cleveland, OH to be exact.
Those of you in the L.A. area, come on over. You're welcome to attend and bring a guest. There is no charge, but if you wish to bring food items, it would certainly be appreciated by the host. Most importantly, bring your pride and passion for UCLA Basketball. It's going to be a great day!!!
