Hate to say it but that article is poorly researched.

It got her sophomore (2026) stats wrong which led to her two season totals being wrong 2026 Texas stats...defaults to "Batting", select "Pitching". Per the article "as a sophomore, Salmon's innings pitched dipped to just 10 in 2026". Actual innings were 39.2. Per the article "Salmon was still impactful in the stat book, logging a 3-0 record in four appearances, including a 1.40 earned run average while striking out 12". Her actual stats were a 5-0 record in 16 appearances and a 2.12 earned run average with 31 strike outs. For her 2 seasons she had 101.2 innings (article says 72), a 12-2 record (article says 10-2), and 97 strike outs (article says 78).

Don't think Meika Lauppe was the "former Arizona State ace". That would be Kenzie Brown (now in the AUSL) with a 2.29 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 266 K in 168.0 innings holding opposing batters to a .181 BA.

Lastly, article says "after addressing the pitching concerns – Inouye-Perez will now have to turn her attention to the batter's box". We are retuning 7 of 9 in the batting order (Slimp, Garcia, Bragg, Alejandre, C Ramirez/Mujica, DH Berry/Suarez, Lamar) with Pinedo (.429 BA, 1.000 OPS) and Leyva (.385 BA, 1.275 OPS) hungry for at-bats with 7 incoming freshmen (at least 6 of them position players) Softball Announces 2026 Signing Class and our team batting average without Grant and Woolery was .354 (good enough to tie for 6th in the 2026 NCAA). Yeah, Grant and Woolery probably had a trickle down effect on the rest of the order but our "batter's box" seems okay without the portal. Also, we seem to have a roster crunch. As far as I can tell NCAA softball has a hard roster limit of 25 New NCAA Scholarship and Roster Limits for 2025-26. Has this been changed?

Our 2026 roster has 21 listed UCLA Roster, with only Woolery, Tinsley, and Grant as seniors. This leaves 18 returning. We have an incoming 2027 class of 7 and 18 returning plus 7 incoming equals 25. If 25 is the limit and we accepted Meika Lauppe from the portal then someone on the 18 returning roster is not on the 2027 roster (incoming 7 2027 class must have signed some scholarship or grant-in-aid form). Does #99 Mattie Beliveau actually count against roster limits? The other 20 on our roster had stats for 2026 2026 Softball Stats.

Now Cambria Salmon has committed to us. This means two of our returning 18 are not returning. If Beliveau is one, who is the other?

Apparently Ramirez, Suarez, and Pinedo have graduated (with Woolery and Tinsley...no Grant?) Congratulations to our five #UCLA2026 graduates!. Maybe one of those are not returning?
