Bruins are 50-8.
I would have bet the upholstery farm that this team would not
win 50 games - especially after an early season 11-0 loss
to Tennessee and a 11-7 loss to Florida State.
Inoye-Perez kept trying to involve pitchers Nally, Cable, and
Somerdike, and they did win games , but all three have
astronomical ERA's and can't be counted on - although
Nally closed against Cal-Baptist in the second weirdest game
in the tournament (check-out TX Tech's 2-out rally).
Golden Ticket Tinsley, sailing along 7-1 against the Lancers
went Crazy on You in the fifth, giving up 10 (TEN) runs, but
the Bruins won.
One of the game announcers on Sunday said if the Bruins had lost
vs. Cal Baptist she predicted UCLA would not win the Regional.
Grant and Woolery are once in a decade brilliant teammates, but
the hitting excellence is 1 through 9 like I have never seen at
UCLA. Bruins have had to hide some slap hitters at 8 and 9
in the past.
I would be amazed and thrilled if the Bruins made it to Oklahoma
City, riding on Tinsley and the bats.
50-8 looks gaudy, but anyone who has watched this team knows
that things can go haywire in a heartbeat.
Mercy Rule UCF a couple of time and head to Oklahoma - and
take our chances. How's that?
