by late Saturday afternoon, Lady Bruins got 24 pts, and it didn't look too good for the championship. I was quite nervous because we didn't score in our traditionally strong 100, 200 and 4x100, let alone the Discus (where Sue still holds the collegiate record), Javelin and Shot put, where we used to excel.
Thanks to the Texas/LSU mishap that gave us an unexpected 9 HUGE points in 4x100! When our ladies excelled in 100 Hurdle, 400 Hurdle (Sheena Johnson got another NCAA record), Pole Vaults (#1 and #5), High Jumps, Hammers (#2 and #5), and finally 4x400, we finally got redeemed for our 8 #2's in the past 14 years!
I am extremely happy for our ladies. In fact, our ladies won 4 National Championships in 2004 alone, and 7 in the past 2 years. Where, in vast contrast, our men have not done much since 2002.
Congratulation to our Ladies, and keep faith and do your best to our Men and Ladies in the years to come!
