As much as I like track and field, it would be great to have Drake be a baseball stadium, instead. Way more people like baseball. The baseball team is actually good.
My fantasy scenario is that the Regents saw the Athl Dept bleeding money (I can't spell hemorage). They saw that it can't continue. They saw that sports other than football and basketball would be slashed if that continues. So, they brought in a Chancellor who values sports and will do his damndest to support and promote UCLA sports.
Let's face it, Team Spirit is not really a part of UCLA's culture. Sure, people get happy when the men's football and basketball teams are good. But, supporting the sports teams is not embedded in UCLA's culture.
I took a couple of college tours w/ my kid this year. It was eye-opening. Hopefully, Frenk (is that his name?) changes that.
