UConn's triumvirate of talent swept everyone away at the end of last season and it wasn't close.
My "too much talent" quote - and I'm happy to accept your adjustment to too much equal or at least similar talent - referred to lack of playing time to keep all those talented youngsters happy. And, with Lauren Betts, Rice, Jaquez, Dugalic, Gardiner all returning and Sienna Betts and the frosh from Europe coming in, the freshmen just didn't see playing time opportunities for them next season either. Cori Close has pretty much said as much.
I see a similar overload problem in our pitching rotation in softball with three starter-level talents meaning each gets roughly a third of the time actually playing and when it got to post-season, it became Terry's show with Tinsley getting a couple chances and Fisher no minutes at all. In today's world of virtual free agency and huge pay for some, that logjam imo was just too much of a good thing.
I do see a similar problem on both teams. Close is adjusting to it and it is looking like Inouye-Perez is going to have little choice but to do the same.
