Terry's emerged as our clear #1 at this time and she's had a full day's rest since game one. Facing Canady our hitters are going to be challenged. Sounds like the time to go with your best.
The other thing, and Inouye-Perez knows best, is will Terry be better off with only one day's rest to be on top of her game or will the extra day help her the most to be razor sharp in her next outing as she has been of late.
But I think I'd make that decision looking ahead as well as back. We have two or three more games after this one and we've yet to face Oklahoma. So how do we keep Terry rested and ready for the final games? Planning backward. If we pitch Terry again today then Tinsley has to start the following game and our season could be on the line for that one. If we pitch Tinsley today, we can go back to Terry next game for which she'd have two days' rest - and perhaps the one after. Pitch Terry today to try to match up with Canady and if we lose today, then it's all up to Tinsley but it would leave Terry ready for the following game IF we don't lose today and the next one as well and there IS a next game.
Not knowing the answer to what will keep Terry the sharpest, i think i'd pitch Tinsley today and keep Terry for tomorrow. (As always, I reserve the right to be wrong about that.)
