Our women's soccer team, #2 in the country behind #1 North Carolina, gets the #4 seed for the NCAA Tournament! So we'd have to face UNC in the semis, instead of in THE final!
Also note the other two West Coast powers, Santa Clara and Portland, received the #8 and #9 seeds, which ensures that UNC wouldn't have to face a top West Coast team in the finals. (Sports Illustrated recently ranked UNC's women's soccer program the top dynasty in ALL of collegiate sports, above even UCLA's men's volleyball.)
Here's what makes it worse. #2 seed Notre Dame had TWO losses in the final week of the regular season! #3 seed Florida DIDN'T EVEN WIN THE SEC CONFERENCE. They have three losses! Meanwhile, we have ONE loss the entire season!
East coast bias rears its ugly head again, stacking the deck against us. We are clearly the #2 team in the country, finished UNDEFEATED IN PAC-10 PLAY, and yet are given the unceremonious #4 seed. What a crock.
Thanks to BPG96 for additional info on the other top seeds.
