Final four were Cal - who swept the conference this year, Utah, UCLA and Oregon State. (Stanford won the earlier session scoring 197-something.

The Bruins got off to a good start - pretty good on beam and terrific on floor. Cal faltered on beam, where they rank #2 in the country - big surprise. Dropped them down in the standings. Utah - playing to their home crowd in Utah - was a very close third to UCLA after two events. Oregon State, riding an absolutely brilliant meet by Jade Carey, was second. UCLA scored a season high 99.1 after two events.

But Utah was absolutely brilliant on floor while UCLA did well on vault, Utah (forgive me) callusing over the Bruins to lead by 0.025 points after three rotations. The difference was the Utah crowd cheering one of their gymnasts to a 10 - think it was on beam - whereas Selena Harris's floor was given only - "only" - a 9.975 (should have been a 10!)

Bruins finishing on bars - not our best event; Utah on vault and they are very good at it - all competitors attempting vaults with a top value of 10. If Utah gets five scores of 9.9 or better, they win the meet, we cannot catch them.

Cal finished on floor where they also are great. Floor is the event that usually produces top scores.

Watched the gymnastics to the end, recording the women's NCAA opening basketball game - will watch it soon as the gymnastics are over.

Chae Campbell opened for UCLA on bars and had a 9.3 with a fall. The final five competitors have to be really good so they can drop that opening score (you have six competitors per event and count the five highest scores.)

Malabuyo got a 9.850 on bars. Rosen was next and was terrific - scored a 9.900. Frazier got a 9.875 - little hop on her landing - the Bruins were sticking landings all night long. Two Bruins to go.

Meanwhile Oregon State faltered on beam - had to count a really low score on a fall so after a terrific start driven by Carey, the Beavs dropped to the bottom of the four team evening session. We'll see if they can top Stanford's score in the afternoon session of 197.175. Carey anchored them with a nice routine but with two falls, her team can't keep pace.

Utah coming to their last vault McCallum - had a hop on landing. They are going to have to count a 9.850 on vault.

Esparza for UCLA - great routine but a hop on landing - costs her. She got a 9.825

At this point - with one competitor to go on bars - Selena Harris - UCLA could not catch Utah so Utah will win the final Pac-12 Gymnastics title
Harris had a good routine on bar - they didn't give the score.

Final team scores:

Utah - 198.000
UCLA - 197.875
Cal -
Oregon State -
Stanford (from the earlier session) - 197.175

G0ing to watch our basketball game now - will look for the final scores of these finals in the morning
