All American outfielder on the Softball team - as a hitter, she and first baseman crossed the bag at the same time and she wound up sustaining what looked like a serious knee injury - left knee. She was helped off the field without putting any weight on the leg, came back later with a full knee brace/wrap on crutches. Looked to be at LEAST an MCL sprain and quite possibly worse from what we could see on TV.
They had to stay through yesterday to finish the tournament in Clearwater, FL (Pinellas County - in the Tampa Bay Area). Don't know if they flew home overnight in which case MRI would be today - if flew back today then tonight or tomorrow, i suppose. So perhaps tests today or tomorrow.
i don't always get the reports on sports other than football or basketball and UCLA doesn't go into great detail but if they announce something about her availability, hope someone will share the information - will tell us a lot about the severity of the injury ("day to day" or "out two to three weeks" or "undergoing surgery and out for the season"...). Having watched it happen just invested in the kid and her injury and hoping (against my expectations) that it's not as bad as it appeared to be on TV. (Watched Cody Riley's knee injury at the start of the MBB season and was happily surprised that turned out to be an MCL rather than an ACL - hoping the same for Aaliyah)
