New Mexico were a conference champion, so it was a tougher first round match than a Top 5 team like UCLA really should have been facing, but the Bruins were the superior team on the night, dominating in shots and shots on goal in the second half when the winning goal was scored in the 65th minute (IIRC) off of a rebound.
New Mexico threw everything forward in the final 15 minutes in an effort to tie the score, but the Bruins kept their poise and the defense stiffened when necessary to keep the ball out of Katelyn Rowland's goal.
