UCLA scored three runs in the ninth against California in Berkeley Friday to take the first game of their series 8-7. Two of those runs were earned after two outs. That's the mark of a great team.
This year's Bruin baseball team is capable of going to Omaha and winning it all. Yes, even head-to-head against the Arizona State team that swept UCLA at JRS, because this team is capable of coming back. After that disappointing series with the Sun Devils, the Bruins bounced back to sweep Washington and USC. They are capable of doing the same to Cal and Washington State, although that will not be necessary to get them a bid for the regionals, perhaps even as a host.
What is notable about the Bruins this year is that they have the skills and the attitudes to threaten any team, at any time, on any field. Their previous games won't mean a thing when the Bruins face the Sun Devils again this season. And they will. Count on it.
