Other sports highlights for Monday, April 19th

Baseball: UCLA (27-5, 5-4) salvaged one game of the series before a crowd of nearly 2000 at Jackie Robinson Stadium on Sunday with a 5-1 victory over Oregon (23-12, 6-6), whose Ducks had beaten the Bruins on Friday and Saturday. LHP Rob Rasmussen earned his sixth victory against no defeats. UCLA, ranked 8th this week in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Poll, will play Long Beach State (15-17) at home Tuesday and next weekend will play three against Arizona (26-9, 7-5) in Tucson.

Softball: UCLA (30-9, 4-5) completed a sweep against Oregon State (21-21, 2-7) in Corvallis with a 10-6 victory. The Bruins are ranked 7th in the NFCA Poll. Next weekend they take on Stanford in Palo Alto.

Gymnastics: Having taken first in the regional it hosted last week, UCLA will compete in its 26th NCAA Championship on April 22, in Gainesville, Florida.

Tennis: UCLA's men's team (14-6, 4-2) defeated USC (19-3, 5-1) after having lost in two previous attempts. The victory lifts the Bruins to 12th place in the ITA Poll. The women's team (19-3, 6-1) also beat the Trojans (13-8, 5-2). The Pac-10 championships are coming up in Ojai on April 22.

Water Polo: The UCLA women's team (17-7, 4-3) was sunk by USC to conclude the regular season, but the Bruins host the MPSF Tournament beginning April 30.

Volleyball: The UCLA men's team travels to Provo, UT April 24th to play BYU in the opening round of the MPSF Tournament.
