I've been reporting on two polls, one published by the baseball writers (NCBWA), since it's their opinions that dominate the mainstream media, and the other published by Baseball America magazine, since they have a reputation as an authoritative source of baseball information at every level of the sport. But there are other polls.
The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll ranks UCLA (16-0) in 3rd place! That should be reason enough to report on that poll from now to the College World Series, but there's more. They rank Arizona State (20-0) number 1 and Oregon State (14-3) 9th. You've gotta love pollsters that have three Pac-10 teams in the top 10.
The USA TODAY/ESPN coaches poll ranks UCLA 6th, Arizona State 1st, and Oregon State 15th.
The College Baseball Insider Composite Poll "weighs the four primary national polls, thereby providing the most accurate national ranking." They rank UCLA 7th, with Arizona State 2nd and Oregon State 13th.
