Having scored 60 runs en route to a 5-0 start to the season, the UCLA baseball team is ranked 23rd in the nation and likely to rise in the standings after the Dodgertown Classic this weekend. It's hard not to be optimistic about this season, but the Bruins will have lots of competition for the conference title. ASU, Arizona, and Stanford all appear to have powerhouse teams, although the latter two suffered their first losses Friday. Oregon State's 17-1 pounding of Tennessee last night shows that they won't be counting on just pitching and small-ball for wins this year. With the possible exception of Oregon--and even they knocked off Fullerton at Fullerton in their opening game--any Pac-10 team could put together a season that earns them a bid for post-season play.
