But more seriously, I think there is some explanation of it other than the N.L. being lame (though SD certainly is).
-- I do think the line-ups are very different because of the pitcher, and there's a different mind-set on how to pitch NL than AL (not to mention that there is generally less offensive talent in the line-up because of the lack of DH).
-- There's always been that "strike zone" argument between leagues which might have something to do with it.
-- I also think that often a pitcher is unhappy, and it's probably the position where mental outlook matters most. You change his situation, and he's renewed and invigorated.
