Torre is not afraid to break from the norm to do something he thinks will help his team.

He batted Juan Pierre 9th a few times when he was tearing it up because by moving the pitcher up to 8, it was like having three leadoff guys from the second time around onward.

So Manny's the 3-spot his first time up, and essentially the clean-up guy from then on.

Interesting strategy.....and shows Torre hasn't forgotten how to manage in the NL despite all his years with the Yankers.
