Imagine what he could do with THIS roster....Hell, he won the division in 2004 with a less than impressive mix of players--a bunch of overpriced, oft-injured bums by and large, and that run in 2004 was tremendous. Surely you haven't forgotten all the comeback wins that season?
And considering the heart and soul of the team that year was PAUL LO DUCA! And that he was traded away mid-season as a McCourt salary dump.....Yeah, making the playoffs was quite an accomplishment.
The next season, even more good players were given away, injured, or showed their age. Tracy was made the scapegoat and let go. Frankly, in the right situation, I think he could be another Walter Allston. I love the way he manages from a tactical standpoint. It's old-fashioned baseball at its best.
